Gastric bypass in Tunisia
Mode of action: Bypass in Tunisia.
Gastric Bypass is one of the bariatric surgery techniques practiced by Dr. Jabbes in Tunisia. It helps to limit food intake, also causes a decrease in the digestion of food and helps to modify the relationship with food.
Gastric Bypass is generally indicated for patients with BMI greater than 45 , with a rather sweet diet, without fixed schedules.
The Gastric Bypass procedure involves reducing the volume of the stomach and modifying the food circuit. Food no longer passes through the stomach and the upper part of the digestive tract. They go directly to the middle part of the small intestine.
Result of a Gastric Bypass in Tunisia
The bypass must lead to a very significant weight loss of around 5 kg per month, during the first 6 months, then a weight loss of 2 to 4 kg per month.
According to scientific data, the Bypass causes an average loss of 70% of excess weight in 1 year.
Bypass: The process of the operation
The intervention lasts from 2h to 2h30 in general. It is performed under general anesthesia.
A camera is introduced through a small hole in the abdominal wall and working instruments are inserted through five other small holes. The size of the stomach is reduced by section and only a small gastric pouch with a volume of 20-30 ml is retained. The intestine is then cut and connected to the gastric pouch. Part of the intestine is thus short-circuited over 75 cm.
At the end of the operation, the incisions are closed with absorbable thread (which disappears on its own). The dressing is carried out with glue, which is also self-removing.
There are two variants of this technique depending on the modality of the intestinal short-circuit: the ByPass in Y and the ByPass in Omega .
